Type Locality and Naming
Guihou – west. The Sandaohe Formation was erected by the Guizhou Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1987. The section for the designation is in the Niejia yard of Sandaohe of Weining of Guizhou.
Lithology and Thickness
The Sandaohe Group is composed of conglomerate and quartz sandstone. The Sandaohe Group is 131.0 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base marked by gray massive conglomerate is distinguished from the underlying Upper Permian Erqiao Fm marked by yellow massive sandstone and shows a disconformable contact with the latter.
Upper contact
Its top is not observed in the type area.
Regional extent
The present group is limited in Sandaohe of Weining of Guizhou, covering an area of 5 km2, with a thickness ranging from 131 to 154 m.
